LANGUAGE-SPECIFIC COVID VACCINE EDUCATION WORKSHOPS
In response to high levels of vaccine hesitancy and misinformation, RWN initiated language-specific workshops to create accessible, trustworthy information sharing and Q&A for community members. RWN is partnering with various community organizations to find medical experts to facilitate workshops and to help disseminate flyers to encourage participation. RWN Community Health Promoters help with translation, communication, partnership, and outreach for their specific communities. See our upcoming events in various languages with MDs from CDC, Emory, Grady and more.

The Chefs Club
Cooking with Refugee and Immigrant Women
The Chefs Club is an exciting venture we are bringing back by popular demand! The ultimate goal of the Chefs Club is to cultivate food entrepreneurs and help them formalize and establish their own business.
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make authentic cuisine from all around the world? Now is your chance.
The Chefs Club will host monthly cooking demonstrations taught by amazing refugee and immigrant Chefs. They will talk about their life experiences, their culture, and take you step-by-step in learning how to make their lovely cuisine, which they have been making for their families and friends forever! This will be a cultural experience for all involved that you won't want to miss!
We are really excited about the community that will be formed around good food, good stories, and good support for our refugee and immigrant women. Our third class by Chef Hira will allow you to experience Bhutanese culture with delicious dishes including Momos, Rajma, Amma Dachi/Datshi, and Red Rice.

Time: 1pm - 4pm

Leadership Training for Refugee and Immigrant Women
Refugee Women’s Network, is very excited to bring back RWN’s iconic leadership training for refugee and immigrant women interested in building community. This program is for women looking for deeper and more effective ways to engage locally and globally. The training will focus on identifying strengths and challenges in ourselves and our communities. Through group discussions, we will learn how to engage others, build networks, find resources and move to actions.
The lead facilitator for the training will be Ms. Thanh Xuan Nguyen, the founder of the Refugee Women’s Network. Ms Xuan has led Leadership and Community Organizing Training for refugee and immigrant women while at the Refugee Women’s Network in Georgia, and with Heartland Democracy in Minnesota, the City of Philadelphia and the Hmong Women Association in Wisconsin. She also conducted the Young Women Leadership training for the Grail International in Mozambique.
We believe every woman has a voice and we hope this is the space for those voices to emerge.
When: August 25 to August 30, 2019 (Residential training)
Where: Historic Banning Mills, 205 Horseshoe Dam Rd, Whitesburg, GA 30185
Refugee Women’s Network will cover the expenses of participants to attend this training, however, we will require full attendance during the entire week and commitment to develop and implement a project in your community within 8 or 10 months of training.
